  Once again, there is no news from the North block on Service Tax issues. Two draft master circulars have also perhaps not been finalised yet. Service Tax collections are on a rise and there has been a growth of about 45 percent in Service Tax revenue in first quarter of 2007-08. CAG’s recent report has revealed serious shortcomings in Service Tax administration which need to be plugged.
